As kids growing up, we’ve all painted little faces at the ends of our fingers, or at the very least witnessed our friends poking around their little finger people. What we didn’t quite see coming is this hip artsy twist to childhood fun, giving birth to a whole new design series on ‘Finger Icons’ – quite literally, keeping popular culture icons on the tips of your fingers.
It’s all the rage! Or at least it should be. These finger icons are the brainchild of Ditology, what seems to be a design movement in putting together these widely recognized personalities and characters with our, only in a far more articulate and amusing manner than any of us could dare to imagine as children. These well known personalities are fashioned in a most recognizable almost comical manner. Truly, the mastermind behind Ditology has quite an imaginative sense of humour.
Taking on an array of characters, from world famous pop culture icons, historical personalities, revolutionary role models, controversial dictators, to cartoon characters, fairytale ideals and everyday individuals we have been exposed to every day of our lives. As a people of actively media-driven societies, effectively from the very day we are born, the education system, entertainment and social political circumstances, among other things, have ensured that certain unforgettable faces be imprinted in to our minds forever. Introducing all new versions of time old faces – finger faces; real-time cartoons of world changing totalitarians such as Hitler, revolutionaries such as Che Guevara, cultural symbols such as geishas, technological geniuses such as Steve Jobs and many, many more. You name it! Ditology has gone all out, creating these awesome finger personas of worldly recognized personalities you may love or you may hate, but you’ll definitely find relatable on some level or another!
