Animals In Medieval Art

Designers and Artists existed in all time frames only the medium they used was different. Today i tried to grab something from Medieval Art and wanted to compile something which is not web related but inspiring.

According to wikipedia, “The Medieval art of the Western world covers a vast scope of time and place, over 1000 years of art history in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa.” The art at that time was produced in many media and the works that remain in large numbers include sculpture, illuminated manuscripts, stained glass, metalwork and mosaics.

Today while browsing internet i saw an article on animals in medieval art. Which says, “Animals, both real and fantastic, occupied an important place in medieval art and thought. Artists readily employed animal motifs, along with foliate designs, as part of their decorative vocabulary.”

Here i have showcased some images from that article, which you can visit here.
